Ford Bronco DR: The Perfect Vehicle for Serious Off-Road Enthusiasts | Carscoops

The incredible off-roader is equipped with a 418 hp V8 engine and features Multimatic's Positional Selective DSSV dampers.

This vehicle is powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that delivers 418 hp and is capable of all-wheel drive.

Ford has produced only 50 units of the Bronco Desert Racer, with each starting at a price of $295,000.

This particular model is also outfitted with the $38,000 Baja package, which includes a spare wheel and a dual battery setup.

Earlier this year, Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed his ambition for the brand to become "the Porsche of off-road vehicles," and of all the recent models from the Blue Oval, none embodies that goal more than the Bronco Desert Racer, or DR.

Initially revealed a few years back, the Bronco DR is essentially a production variant of Ford's Baja racer and was limited to just 50 units. It is not street-legal, but it stands out as the ultimate off-road vehicle for those looking for more than a conventional Bronco. Next month, Mecum Auctions will offer one of the most eye-catching Bronco DRs ever made.

This particular model displays a striking satin blue finish that looks absolutely stunning. Like the others, it rides on distinctive wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires and features the $38,000 Baja package. This package includes a spare wheel, dual battery, a massive LED light bar mounted on the roof, a new grille bar, a siren, and rock lights.

While there is no indication of how many miles this Bronco DR has been driven, it appears so immaculate that taking it off-road and dirtying it would seem almost a pity. However, it was designed for navigating rugged terrains and racing across sand dunes, so it deserves to be driven in tough conditions rather than parked in a garage.

As with all Bronco DR models, this one is powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 generating 418 hp and comes with Multimatic’s sophisticated Positional Selective DSSV dampers, offering 15.8 inches (400 mm) of front travel and 17.4 inches (443 mm) at the rear.

The cabin of the DR being auctioned by Mecum has very few similarities with a standard Bronco. It features a new Sparco steering wheel and a custom dashboard that replaces the original gauge cluster and infotainment screen with a single display from MoTec. Additionally, it includes a complete roll cage and Recaro racing seats with harnesses.

If you're interested in serious off-roading, you might want to consider bidding on this Bronco DR, which is set to be auctioned on March 22. Keep in mind that due to its premium MSRP when it was originally sold, its limited production, and the mentioned Baja package, it will demand a significant financial investment.
