2026 Volvo XC60 Receives Another Update After 9 Years On Sale | Carscoops
The XC60 comes with an upgraded media system that will be introduced across Volvo's entire range in the upcoming year.
Volvo’s XC60 is undergoing another subtle update as it enters its ninth year on the market.
This makeover includes a new air intake reminiscent of the XC90, alongside fresh wheel designs and darker taillights.
Inside, there's a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen and a more efficient infotainment system.
Recently, there has been little news regarding the XC60, with most discussions focusing on the smaller EX30 EV, the refreshed XC90, and the anticipated EX60. However, the XC60 continues to be a strong seller in Volvo showrooms, having been the brand's top-selling model since its launch in 2017. To maintain its popularity, the midsize SUV is receiving updates.
The last major update for the XC60 occurred in 2021, which included a redesigned grille, new wheels, updated color and trim options, and enhancements to the infotainment system. The 2026 model year revisions follow a similar approach, meaning the SUV enters its ninth year with minimal visual changes but some significant interior enhancements.
The most noticeable external change for the 2026 model year is the new grille, inspired by the XC90’s revised design introduced last year. This grille features a pattern of diagonal lines, with lines on the right side angled away from and overlapping those on the left. Interestingly, some of BMW’s newer grilles bear a striking resemblance.
The XC60 also sports darker taillights—a common facelift strategy—along with new optional wheel designs and additional paint choices. Inside, updates include new materials aimed at elevating the premium feel, such as Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave, an improved wireless phone charger, and revamped cupholders.
However, the biggest draw in the showroom will likely be the upgraded infotainment screen. It has increased in size from 9.0 to 11.2 inches, features enhanced pixel density for sharper visuals, and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. Volvo claims this technology makes the entire system twice as fast as the previous one, with graphics processing speed improving tenfold.
This advanced screen setup, which includes various built-in Google services, will soon be available in all new Volvos this year. Moreover, the updated user interface will also be implemented in Volvos manufactured as early as 2020 via an over-the-air update in 2025.
Volvo does not seem to have altered the XC60's powertrains, so US models will still offer a choice between a 247 hp (250 PS) 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder in the B5 and a 455 hp (461 PS) version in the T8 PHEV that replaces the 48-volt electrical system with a genuine motor and battery. Additionally, the UK and Europe will have access to a less powerful plug-in option, the 345 hp (350 PS) T6. Pricing information will be disclosed closer to the launch date.
