There Are Unique Porsches, and Then There's This Ruf CTR2 | Carscoops
The beautiful bodywork of the Ruf is coated in a vibrant Adriatic Blue.
Ruf's 993-based CTR2 is incredibly rare, with only 18 units produced.
In the United States, there are only four of these cars, and it holds the distinction of being the sole one finished in Adriatic Blue worldwide.
With a power output of 520 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque, the CTR2 delivers remarkable performance.
One of Ruf’s most renowned models is set to be auctioned in early March and could sell for as much as $2.5 million. This is, of course, the striking blue Ruf CTR2 from 1997. Built on the 993-generation Porsche 911 platform, it provides performance akin to a modern 911 Turbo and is believed to be among only 18 ever made.
Produced between 1995 and 1997, the CTR2 succeeded the legendary Ruf CTR Yellowbird and is one of just four located in the United States. Its unique attribute is the stunning Adriatic Blue finish, making it the only one in this specification.
Power is generated by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six engine that produces an impressive 520 hp and 506 lb-ft (686 Nm) of torque. For comparison, the 992.1-generation 911 Turbo is limited to 572 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, despite being nearly 30 years younger. However, unlike the current Turbo, which features a PDK transmission, the CTR2 is equipped with a six-speed manual, resulting in a slightly slower acceleration. Power is distributed to all four wheels, similar to the modern 911 Turbo.
Nonetheless, it performs admirably, reaching 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds, and completing the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds at 124 mph (200 km/h). Notably, the Ruf achieves a higher top speed than the current 911 Turbo, with a maximum of 211 mph (340 km/h) compared to the latter's 205 mph (330 km/h).
Gooding & Company will be handling the sale of this CTR2, which has an odometer reading of 60,194 km (37,402 miles) and has evidently been well cared for. The interior is in pristine condition, and the black leather covering the seats, door panels, and dashboard shows minimal wear.
