The Ford Mustang S351 was among the fastest cars of the 1990s, and it remains quick today. Created by the renowned tuner Saleen, it's no surprise. One notable example has appeared on Bring a Trailer.

George Foreman, a former thug turned heavyweight boxing champion, has a good understanding of fighting spirit—both in and out of the ring. He is also well-acquainted with raw power due to his profession. This was likely why he was drawn to the 1995 Saleen S351 Mustang. Originally used as a press car for media reviews, this supercharged convertible eventually came into Foreman's possession, though he didn’t drive it much.

The listing notes that the odometer shows 227 miles, which was replaced in 1996 when it read 505 miles. The reason for the replacement is not specified, but it is documented on the door jamb. The seller also pointed out some discoloration in the engine bay and undercarriage, which is notable for a vehicle with such low mileage.

“[The] engine bay and underneath have no more than millimeters of surface discoloration on some of the metal as it sat in Texas since 1995 until last year,” Warren Lu explained. The car is titled in Texas, where Foreman lives, but the Saleen S351 is being auctioned through a dealer in Washington state.

“Just a bit of time with a wire brush and some cleaner, and it's as good as new,” Lu stated. “[The] current owner has many classic cars and believes this is original patina on a 722-mile vehicle and should be left as is to maintain its history – it's all about perspective and personal ownership and what one wants to do with the car.”

The S351 Mustang was based on the fourth-generation Mustang and was produced by Saleen between 1994 and 1999. As per Silodrome, the Saleen version was equipped with a 351 Windsor V8 instead of Ford’s modular V8, giving the S351 more power than the standard GT and Cobra models.

With a Vortec supercharger, Silodrome lists the S351's output as 495 bhp and 490 pound-feet of torque. A Car and Driver test recorded a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, with 100 mph achieved in 9.5 seconds. However, Foreman’s enhanced Mustang featured the R Code 500 package, which boosted the supercharged 5.8-liter V8’s power to 510 bhp and 495 lb-ft of torque, with a top speed of 172 mph.

The car has a five-speed manual transmission and a suspension setup from Racecraft. It comes with 18-inch staggered Pirelli P Zero tires, an extended rear spoiler, and various performance enhancements. The interior boasts black leather upholstery with Recaro bucket seats in the front.

As press cars typically come with extra features (in comparison to consumer models), this S351 is finished in Canary Yellow, matching wheels, and a color-coordinated Speedster-style hard tonneau cover. Saleen branding and graphics provide the final touch.

Included in the sale are all documentation related to the vehicle, from media loaner papers to boxer ownership records, along with window stickers and equipment manuals. Currently, the bid stands at $37,000 with two days remaining in the auction.
