The car that marked Michael Schumacher's first Formula 1 victory is available for auction after years in storage and a recent restoration.

Schumacher achieved his inaugural F1 win with this Benetton B192 vehicle, specifically chassis 05, which he drove in Canada, France, Hungary, and Belgium. The car was restored and sold to its current owner in 2016.

This vehicle, associated with a significant moment in Formula 1 history, is now set to be auctioned and is particularly appealing to collectors. It’s not from Schumacher's famous Ferrari era, nor is it the most spectacular car to ever compete, but this 1992 Benetton B192 possesses a unique rarity: it is the car in which Schumacher secured his first Grand Prix victory. Its potential selling price could exceed €8.5 million (approximately $9.97 million).

The Benetton B192 was introduced at the 1992 Spanish Grand Prix and demonstrated immediate competitiveness. Schumacher drove this specific car at the Canadian Grand Prix, achieving a fifth-place qualifying position and finishing second in the race. He matched his fifth-place qualifying result in France, although the race resulted in a disappointing 20th place.

Schumacher once again drove chassis 05 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but mechanical issues prevented him from finishing. The Belgian Grand Prix in late August proved to be a turning point, with challenging weather conditions leading to a wet track and poor visibility. Taking a bold risk, Schumacher opted for slick tires on a drying track, which paid off as he clinched his first Formula 1 victory just a year after his entry into the sport.

Every F1 car piloted by Michael Schumacher is notable, but the opportunity to own the car that contributed to his first victory is particularly thrilling for affluent collectors. The B192 was crafted by notable designers Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne, featuring a Ford-sourced naturally aspirated V8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission.

Broad Arrow Auctions will conduct the sale of the car later this month. After being retired from racing, B192-05 remained at Renault's headquarters and was a part of the team's Classic Department collection until 2015. It was sold that year to LRS Formula, which undertook a complete restoration, including an engine overhaul and gearbox refurbishing. The car was transferred to its current private owner in 2016.

Are you interested in acquiring the car that initiated Schumacher’s dominance? It’s fully restored, ready for racing, and priced like a small island. You can find more details in the listing, but do try to keep your excitement in check.
