Mustang Mach-E Owners Will Require a Solution Before Nighttime Becomes an Issue | Carscoops
Ford has announced three new recalls affecting the Mustang Mach-E, Maverick, and Escape models, with not all issues being resolved through a software update.
One of the recalls affects more than 45,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles in the U.S.
Ford is required to update the headlight software for the impacted Mach-E models.
Some Maverick models need their instrument panel toppers replaced.
As 2025 comes to a close, Ford continues its trend of issuing multiple recalls. This week, the automaker revealed three new safety recalls in the United States, concerning the Mustang Mach-E, Escape Hybrid, and Maverick.
Mach-E Recall Due to Faulty Module
The most significant recall involves the 2025–2026 Mustang Mach-E. An internal investigation revealed that a failure in the LED control module could lead to the headlights becoming inoperative. When the module fails, the vehicle loses not just its high and low beams, but also the position lamps, turn signals, and daytime running lights.
Ford identified that 45,047 units are affected, all manufactured between June 6, 2024, and October 1, 2025. To date, the automaker has not received reports of accidents or injuries associated with this headlight problem.
Recall notifications will start being sent to customers between January 26 and January 30. Ford intends to fix the issue through an over-the-air software update scheduled for April.
Maverick Recall for Cabin Safety
The second recall concerns 6,897 Ford Mavericks from the 2025-2026 models produced between August 7, 2025, and September 5, 2025. Ford has identified a problem with the instrument panel topper, which may not be adequately welded to the passenger airbag chute doors. In the event of a crash, the panel could detach and potentially injure someone inside the vehicle.
In this instance, the issue cannot be remedied through an OTA update. Owners will need to visit a local Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the instrument panel topper replaced.
Escape Hybrid Risks Dropping Into Neutral
Lastly, Ford is recalling a limited number of 2020 Escape Hybrid models. Only 87 units, all manufactured between November 6, 2019, and December 15, 2022, are affected. The concern is with the hybrid powertrain control module software, which could unexpectedly cause the transmission to shift into neutral while driving. If the driver tries to shift back into drive, the vehicle may enter limp mode, limiting speed to 30 mph.
To resolve this issue, Ford and Lincoln dealers will offer a software update at no charge to the owners. Notifications for this recall are also anticipated to be sent out between January 26 and January 30.
