Porsche Revives Its Most Daring Seat Fabrics, and They Look Amazing | Carscoops
To facilitate restorations, Porsche has reintroduced Pasha, Pepita, and Tartan upholstery.
The new fabrics replicate the originals and are guaranteed to be of high quality.
Their reappearance will benefit owners looking to achieve authentic restorations.
Few car manufacturers honor their history as much as Porsche, which has launched an impressive array of special editions and Heritage Design variants over the years. These vary significantly, but several recent models have featured vintage upholstery.
This has resonated well with enthusiasts, prompting Porsche to "reissue" their Pasha, Pepita, and Tartan fabric designs. These are intended specifically for classic cars rather than new models.
As Porsche Classic Director Ulrike Lutz stated, "By reintroducing these fabrics, we are filling a void, as most customers wish to restore their historic or more recent classic cars to their original condition as closely as possible."
While this is a reasonable desire, owners have encountered difficulties since many alternatives were found to be "either completely unsuitable as seat fabric or lose their appearance after a short time."
The demand for quality fabrics led Porsche to provide high-quality options themselves. The company emphasized that their focus on quality encompasses not only the feel and durability but also the precision of the often very intricate patterns and color combinations.
The 'new' fabrics can be purchased online and at dealerships, coming in sections measuring 4.9 feet by 6.6 feet (1.5 m x 2 m). A variety of colors and patterns are available, with more options planned for the future.
Notably, Porsche introduced Pepita in 1963, which gained popularity over a decade earlier due to fashion designer Christian Dior.
Tartan fabrics made their debut in 1974 and were initially exclusive to the 911 Turbo. The checkered flag-inspired Pasha was introduced in 1977 and recently returned in the 911 Spirit 70.
