Mercedes has commenced testing the revised CLE Coupe, which features some exterior modifications.

The prototype displays star-infused headlights along with a redesigned front end.

Inside, the car is expected to include the MBUX Virtual Assistant and an updated infotainment system.

Although the Mercedes CLE is just two and a half years old, the brand is already developing a facelifted version. Even though development is still in the early stages, spy photographers have recently captured a lightly camouflaged prototype being tested in Europe.

Expected to resemble the updated C-Class, the coupe features star-infused headlights, moving away from subtlety. While it is hard to discern additional details, we anticipate a new front bumper and an updated grille.

The grille appears taller than before in these spy images, though the disguise makes it hard to confirm. However, Mercedes has been favoring larger, more conspicuous grilles recently.

The remainder of the vehicle seems to remain unchanged, though the production model is likely to include more updates. This suggests we should expect new taillights and a revamped rear bumper.

Spy photographers didn’t capture the interior, but any updates are expected to be relatively minor. Thus, the car may feature a familiar 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch infotainment system.

The latter might utilize the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System, which made its debut in the CLA. Essentially the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), it heavily incorporates artificial intelligence.

Specifically, there is a new MBUX Virtual Assistant described as a “living avatar” resembling a Mercedes star.

      Powertrains

The engine options will likely mirror the existing range, although some refinements may be made. Currently, the model features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 255 hp (190 kW / 259 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque.

Customers can also opt for the CLE 450, which includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six generating 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). For even more power, the CLE 53 offers an enhanced inline-six engine with 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS) and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just four seconds.
