The recent teaser features the GR GT on the track alongside the 2000GT and Lexus LFA.

Its design reflects the GR GT3 concept, showcasing LFA-inspired aesthetics and aerodynamics.

The supercar is set to debut on December 5, and is expected to be equipped with a twin-turbo hybrid V8 engine.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is coming close to unveiling what will be its first modern supercar, which is technically Toyota's second overall if the original 2000GT from the 1960s is included, on December 5.

Positioned as the spiritual successor to the Lexus LFA, this upcoming V8 flagship was briefly teased in a Japanese TV segment that also established its connection to the LFA and the original 2000GT.

Interestingly, the clip has not yet been shared on Toyota GR's official platforms and has only been broadcast on local television. In the segment, the new supercar and the LFA are depicted overtaking the 2000GT on an oval track, symbolizing a passing of the torch.

The same trio of supercars was recently showcased at Fuji Speedway during an event in October, under the motto “The Soul Lives On,” coincidentally released on the same day it was announced that the Kia Soul is being discontinued.

      What Will It Be Called?

The latest teaser, posted by Lexus on Instagram, gives a closer look at the design, which matches earlier spy images. The license plate reads “GR GT,” hinting at a name derived from the GR GT3 concept revealed in 2022, now adapted for a more road-ready version.

The model adopts various design elements from the Lexus LFA, particularly the hood vents and high-mounted side intakes. Its front end showcases sharp LED headlights reminiscent of those on the Toyota GR86 coupe, a narrow grille, large bumper intakes, and a long, contoured hood that emphasizes its low profile.

At the back, the design includes wide-set LED taillights integrated into oversized outlets, another feature derived from the original concept. The exhaust outlets of the production model are not visible in the teaser, but spy photos suggest they will be positioned within the rear diffuser.

In contrast, the racing version seems to feature side-exit exhausts. Other visible elements include coupe-style rear glass, pronounced rear fenders, and a built-in ducktail spoiler, complemented by a fixed wing on the racing model.

      First Look Inside

Toyota first showcased the car's interior at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last June. The cabin combines red leather with Alcantara trim and aluminum accents, creating a sleek, performance-focused environment.

Two deep carbon-fiber bucket seats are prominent in the cabin, which also includes a wide center console with a touchscreen and a set of physical buttons or switches.

      A New Twin-Turbo V8

Under the hood, Toyota has confirmed that the GR GT will be powered by a new twin-turbo V8. While it won’t produce the high-revving sound of the LFA’s naturally aspirated V10, it is expected to be part of a high-output self-charging hybrid system.

Initial reports indicate the V8 could generate over 800 horsepower, sharing some elements with Toyota’s upcoming turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

Further details will be revealed on Friday, December 5. Although Toyota hasn’t announced market availability yet, a recent teaser strongly suggests that North America will be included in the plans.

This new supercar will top Toyota's Gazoo Racing lineup, above the GR Yaris, GR Corolla, GR86, GR Supra, and the anticipated GR Celica.
