Jeep continues to inundate customers with bothersome ads.
The most recent pop-up sought to persuade an owner to buy a new Jeep.
It instructed the customer to call a 1-800 number to opt out.
Imagine starting your vehicle and being welcomed not by the usual startup logo of your infotainment screen, but rather by an advertisement. While that might seem like something out of a dystopian future, it’s already taking place due to Jeep.
A Reddit user reported that their 2022 Grand Cherokee attempted to sell them another vehicle. This "marketing notification" informed them of a $1,500 loyalty bonus cash offer for purchasing a new Jeep.

That’s certainly an irritating way to begin the day, but the pop-up did provide a phone number for opting out. Unfortunately, it’s just the general Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo, and Fiat Connect number meant for “general inquiries about brand Connect packages, pricing, and more.”
It’s safe to say that bombarding customers with ads in their existing vehicles isn't an effective strategy for encouraging them to buy new ones. Nevertheless, Jeep appears unconcerned about annoying its customers, as previous pop-up ads promoting extended warranties have also been reported.
When we inquired about the earlier ad, a spokesperson mentioned, “A temporary software glitch affected the ability to instantly opt out in a few isolated cases, though instant opt-out is the standard for all our in-vehicle messages.”
This is noteworthy since the latest ad prompted the customer to call a 1-800 number, which certainly isn't instant. As for customers, their options are limited to complaining, opting out, and choosing to spend their money elsewhere.
Ads Are Popping Up Everywhere
Regrettably, this isn’t even the most extreme instance of intrusive advertising, as Samsung has recently started displaying marketing messages on their high-end Family Hub refrigerators.
These refrigerators come with either a 21.5- or 32-inch external display, which the company deemed suitable for showcasing ads. Initially marketed as small ad spaces, a Reddit user soon shared a full-screen ad for an Apple TV show. Fortunately, owners can easily disable these ads by navigating to Settings, selecting Advertisements, and then choosing Cover Screen Ads.
