Bollinger Motors Has Ceased Paying Its Invoices.
Bollinger Motors is facing significant difficulties. The Detroit Free Press reports that the Oak Park, Michigan-based commercial EV manufacturer has ceased paying its bills, and employees have stated that they have not been compensated for weeks. The company's COO initially informed employees via email in late October that they were unable to meet payroll. A follow-up message on November 6 confirmed that the issue remained unresolved—resulting in employees going unpaid for over six weeks.
We are currently working to verify the situation at Bollinger, but a source who reached out to us suggests that this is more than just a payroll problem. Reports indicate that the local management has been dismissed and that the company has exhausted its cash reserves:
“Bollinger Motors of Oak Park, Michigan, and its parent company Bollinger Innovations have completely collapsed,” the source told us in an email. “All senior leadership based in Michigan has been let go.”
“Employee payroll is weeks overdue, with employees receiving no answers,” the source continued. “There is no operational cash remaining, and customers/dealers are being misled.”
This is unfortunate news for any business, and given the challenges Bollinger has faced this year, it's particularly concerning. Our previous coverage in the spring indicated that the company was already facing financial difficulties.
During our visit to the manufacturer in July, we observed a facility filled with ambition but also many empty desks. With the current political challenges facing EVs, this situation may have been unavoidable. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
