Carlex is implementing similar enhancements for a Bentley Bentayga and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
This Mercedes features an aggressive widebody kit that complements its distinctive paint scheme.
Inside, the cabin is adorned with Himalaya crocodile leather in white and brown.
There are numerous tuners offering aesthetic upgrades for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with a variety that ranges from subtle to quite unappealing.
This particular G63, transformed by Carlex Design, stands out as one of the most unique interpretations available. It's a part of the company's limited 'Himalaya' series and follows a reverse restomod approach, reverting the styling of a modern vehicle.
Previewed in early 2024, Carlex is creating one special model among seven luxury SUVs, each sharing a similar design theme. The lineup includes a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a Lamborghini Urus, an Aston Martin DBX, a Range Rover Vogue, a Ferrari Purosangue, a Bentley Bentayga, and the Mercedes-AMG G63 shown here.
As a unique creation, clearly made at significant expense, this G-Class may be the most remarkable of the group.
Diamond Dust and Retro Aesthetic
The paint is the standout feature of this G. The tuner claims that nearly 2.2 lbs (1 kg) of diamond powder have been mixed into the white paint, giving it a distinctive shimmering effect. Painting a car is already a challenging task, so we can only imagine the stress the painter experienced while applying this finish to the Benz.
In addition to the paint, the G-Class Himalaya presents a custom widebody kit that includes flared arches, retro-styled alloy wheels fitted with classic whitewall tires, period-style emblems, a redesigned grille, and chrome bumper trims that unify the overall design.
An Interior with a Hermes Influence
Inside, Carlex has focused most of its efforts. The seats are covered in luxurious Himalaya leather, sourced from crocodiles and made renowned by the Hermes Birkin bag.
This high-end, extremely costly leather embellishes the front seats and the center rear seat, lending this G a truly unique atmosphere.
Other interior components are crafted from more traditional white and brown leather, with ample soft-touch Alcantara, including on the headliner.
As you may imagine, Carlex’s latest Mercedes G-Class doesn’t come cheap. In fact, the company estimates its value at an astounding €1.5 million ($1.7 million), significantly attributed to the diamond dust included in the paint.
