A new Navara is set to be released, significantly based on the Mitsubishi Triton platform.

The latest version of the Navara will be unveiled in November, marking the end of the longstanding D24 generation.

It will utilize the chassis from the Mitsubishi Triton, featuring styling details specific to Nissan.

The lineup is expected to include a rugged Pro-4X Warrior variant and a potential NISMO model.

After over a decade on the market, the D24 Nissan Navara is on the verge of retirement. The Japanese automaker has announced that its long-standing midsize truck will be succeeded by a completely new generation, debuting on November 19 in Australia and New Zealand.

However, this upcoming model is just one of several Navara variations being developed or available worldwide, with little in common except for the name. The specific version depicted here is built on Mitsubishi's foundations and has no relation to the forthcoming South American Navara or the Chinese Frontier Pro.

The announcement included a teaser video, showcasing the Navara's history in the Oceania region and offering a first look at the new model, which will be akin to the Mitsubishi Triton.

The teaser suggests that the new Navara will share several design features with the Triton, although Nissan emphasizes it will "integrate design elements that pay tribute to earlier generations."

Nissan-specific design features will likely consist of distinct LED designs on the split headlights and taillights, a sculpted hood, a new grille, and a revamped front bumper.

A sports bar is also visible, indicating that the displayed version is likely a higher trim level. The lineup is expected to include chassis, single-, and dual-cab configurations to meet the needs of both commercial and recreational buyers.

The forthcoming Nissan Navara (above) is compared to the mechanically related Mitsubishi Triton (below).

In terms of platform and powertrains, the truck will be built on the ladder-frame chassis of the Mitsubishi introduced in 2023. However, Nissan executives have suggested that there will be notable modifications to the design and engineering, with the goal of further distinguishing the models for potential buyers.

Power is anticipated to be provided by a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine delivering 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), matching the Triton's performance. A plug-in hybrid version is also reported to be in development, aligning with the increasing trend towards electrified pickups.

Nissan plans to introduce a tough Pro-4X Warrior model developed in partnership with Premcar, with the possibility of a NISMO-branded variant under consideration.

The next-generation Navara is expected to launch in Australia and New Zealand in the first half of 2026. Since its regional introduction in December 1986, Nissan has sold over 420,000 units throughout Oceania. It remains uncertain if the new model will be available in additional markets.

Meanwhile, South America is slated to receive its own Navara soon, although that version seems to be a refreshed iteration of the current truck introduced in 2014.

The Japanese truck will compete with the Toyota Hilux, which is also undergoing a generational update next year, and the Ford Ranger, which is currently the best-selling model in Australia. Other competitors include the VW Amarok, Kia Tasman, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, JAC T9, MGU9, GWM Cannon Ute, and BYD Shark.
