Here’s Our Best Insight Into the 2026 Toyota Hilux | Carscoops

The most recent leak of the Hilux interior reveals that Toyota’s upcoming pickup will adopt a sharper and more practical design.

A leaked image shows an updated dashboard featuring angular designs and additional storage space.

Reports indicate that Toyota might reveal the next-generation Hilux by the end of this year.

It’s also suggested that Toyota may replace the existing 2.4-liter and 2.7-liter engines with new alternatives.

The anticipated 2026 Toyota Hilux is getting closer to its launch, and a new image provides the clearest glimpse of its interior so far. The next-generation model will feature a distinctly different infotainment screen, which is smaller than those seen in some of Toyota’s recent vehicles.

The photo shared on the Kurdistan Automotive Blog Instagram shows a right-hand-drive configuration, though the new Hilux will also be available in left-hand drive to cater to its global audience.

The most notable change is the more angular design of the dashboard, which now includes a larger glovebox and what appears to be an additional storage compartment above.

Cupholders are visible on either side of the dashboard, surrounding a prominent, free-standing infotainment screen in the center. The display seems larger than the one in the previous model but maintains relatively thick bezels and features physical buttons on each side, indicating that Toyota hasn’t fully transitioned to a touchscreen interface yet.

Additionally, there is a clear space allocated for a digital instrument cluster. It’s somewhat surprising that the new Hilux has a noticeably smaller infotainment display compared to those in the latest Tundra and Tacoma models, and it doesn’t seem as large as the one in the current Land Cruiser 250, which is more seamlessly integrated into the dashboard.

      Beyond Just a New Interior

The 2026 Hilux will undoubtedly offer more than just a revamped interior. It is expected to utilize an updated version of Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame chassis.

Toyota will also refresh the exterior with more modern front and rear styling to keep the pickup competitive against newer competitors like the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton.

      Powertrain Options

Earlier this month, documents released in Australia provided initial insights into the powertrain options. The documents indicated that Toyota’s 2.8-liter mild-hybrid 48-volt diesel will be the primary engine, leading to speculation about the discontinuation of the long-standing 2.7-liter petrol and 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engines.

There have also been reports suggesting the potential introduction of a high-performance variant designed to compete directly with the Ford Ranger Raptor, though we are cautious about this possibility.

Should such a version be developed, it might utilize the 2.4-liter i-Force Max Hybrid setup from the Tacoma, producing up to 326 hp and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
