The newly unveiled VinFast 900 LX armored electric vehicle, developed in collaboration with INKAS, is designed to resist bullets and grenades while featuring luxurious gold accents.
The Lạc Hồng 900 LX showcases a unique grille, gold detailing, and an opulent interior.
It has received VPAM VR7 certification, enabling it to endure rifle fire and grenade explosions.
Although VinFast vehicles are seldom seen on American streets due to a tepid local introduction, they are quite popular in Vietnam, the company's home country. The latest model, the Lạc Hồng 900 LX, which was developed with the expertise of armoring specialists INKAS, has just been launched in the domestic market.
This model is quite distinct from some of VinFast’s more budget-friendly options and is likely to appeal to affluent executives and government officials seeking luxury combined with enhanced protection.
More Than Just Bulletproof
The 900 LX shares many features with the existing VinFast VF 9 and will be offered in both armored and unarmored versions. The version crafted by INKAS is fully approved for Vietnamese roads and is certified to handle rifle fire, including armor-piercing rounds.
To further assure potential buyers of the 900 LX’s safety, INKAS states that it can withstand the simultaneous explosion of two DM51 hand grenades and has successfully endured tests involving 400 laser-guided projectiles. Crucially, the armored model maintains a similar appearance to the standard version.
Powertrain Details
There are minor variations in powertrains between the standard and armored versions of the Lạc Hồng 900 LX. Reports indicate that both configurations utilize a 123 kWh battery from CATL, with the standard version powered by two electric motors producing a combined output of 402 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque, enabling it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.8 seconds.
In contrast, the armored model features upgraded motors that generate 455 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. However, the additional weight from the armoring extends its acceleration time to 9.8 seconds to reach 62 mph.
Visually, the 900 LX differentiates itself from the shorter-wheelbase VF 9 on which it is based. It includes a custom chrome grille and numerous gold accents on elements such as the door handles and the prominent hood ornament. These gold touches continue inside, where luxurious leather and wood accents enhance the cabin's opulence.
