Inkas has transformed the performance-driven version of the Defender into a luxury vehicle equipped with military-grade enhancements.
The Inkas Defender Octa Edition One is designed to withstand rifle fire and grenade explosions.
Its military-grade armor, runflat tires, and protected fuel tank ensure the safety of its occupants.
An optional package includes oxygen filtration, night vision, strobe lights, and an escape hatch.
The Land Rover Defender Octa has emerged as one of the most formidable and impressive SUVs available, combining a rugged look and capabilities with a powerful V8 engine. While this may not make it an ideal candidate for an armored vehicle, it certainly complements its tough image.
Toronto-based Inkas has taken on the challenge of redesigning the Octa as an armored stronghold, resulting in the 2025 Armored Defender Octa Edition One, which meets BR6 protection standards. In practical terms, this means it can withstand sustained fire from a 7.62 mm assault rifle and endure blasts from up to two DM51 grenades without compromising stability.
Armor Features
From afar, the armored Defender Octa seems nearly identical to the standard version. However, a closer look reveals steel armor additions under the side skirts marked with Inkas branding, part of the company’s comprehensive 360-degree ballistic protection encompassing the cabin, roof, and floor.
The vehicle is also equipped with multi-layer ballistic glass on all windows, reinforced hinges, and overlapping armored door seams that minimize vulnerabilities to bullet penetration. Additionally, a fortified casing protects the fuel tank, and special runflat wheels with polycarbonate inserts ensure the Defender can continue to function even if the tires are punctured.
Inside, Inkas largely maintains the original cabin, preserving the forged carbon-fiber trim and technology features of the Octa trim. Optional enhancements include an oxygen filtration system, a door assist mechanism, additional cameras, night vision, LED strobe lights, a siren, an intercom, and a roof escape hatch.
The most powerful version of the Defender comes with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 626 hp (467 kW / 635 PS) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque. The standard model accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in an impressive 3.8 seconds, although the armored variant will be slightly slower due to the added weight.
It’s Likely to Be Expensive
The Inkas Armored Defender Octa Edition One is available for order at an undisclosed price. Buyers can choose the desired level of armoring or apply similar upgrades to other SUV variants. For context, a standard Octa starts at $158,300 in the U.S., while the dark-themed Octa Black begins at $168,700. With the added ballistic features, it is reasonable to expect that the final cost will exceed these figures significantly.
