Rumors Suggest Toyota's Next Hilux Will Be Unveiled in November | Carscoops
The completely redesigned 2026 Hilux is anticipated to be unveiled at Thailand's motor show this winter, according to local media sources.
Reports indicate that Toyota plans to launch the new Hilux pickup in Thailand this November, coinciding with the national motor show.
It will feature narrow headlights, a tablet-style touchscreen, and a ladder chassis.
While Toyota does not sell the Hilux in the United States, it is a significant vehicle globally, and we expect to see an official reveal of the new model in just two months.
Competing against the Ford Ranger, the truck is manufactured in Thailand and other countries. Local media suggest that the extensively revamped 2026 model will debut at the Thailand Motor Expo, scheduled from November 28 to December 10, 2025. According to Car250, the new pickup is likely to be unveiled during the event before it concludes.
Spy images and patent illustrations have provided insight into the expected design changes, including a refreshed front and rear with a more vertical grille, sleeker headlights, and potentially a transverse LED light bar connecting the two light clusters. The squared wheel arches are likely to feature rugged black plastic cladding for enhanced protection and a stronger road presence, with modifications to the rear lights also anticipated.
However, the central section of the Hilux seems to remain the same, as does the chassis underneath. Sources indicate that Toyota has chosen to retain the current model's IMV ladder chassis rather than transition to the newer TNGA-F platform used in the recent Land Cruiser and the Tacoma.
This decision doesn’t imply that the new Hilux will lack substance. It is rumored to include an electric power steering system, which would reduce fuel consumption and enable the integration of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that are becoming standard. Toyota has already introduced 48-volt mild-hybrid support for the existing truck's 201 hp (204 PS) 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, and reports suggest a plug-in hybrid variant could be available in 2026. Incorporating the 2.4-liter i-Force Max hybrid powertrain from the Tacoma could potentially yield a sporty GR Hilux offering 326 hp (330 PS) and a robust 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque. The automaker has also hinted at the possibility of introducing a fully electric version by the end of this year.
Patent drawings of the ninth-generation truck, which confirm the visual changes seen in spy shots, also indicate a new digital gauge cluster and a contemporary tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system. Therefore, even if the core mechanics of the new Hilux are borrowed from the previous model, the interior is set to feel genuinely new for drivers.
