A high-end luxury sports car loaded with options has seen its value drop significantly after less than 500 miles and just two changes in ownership.

This Aston was configured with over $40,000 worth of factory options.

      The DB11 is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that delivers 630 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Last year, the same vehicle changed hands for $190,000 even though it was only one year old.

Not long ago, this 2023 Aston Martin DB11 had a staggering sticker price of $276,786. Fast forward to now, and its value has plummeted. In fact, earlier this week, the same sports car was sold for only $174,000, despite having been driven just 497 miles (800 km).

      A Rapid Decline

The original owner faced the largest financial hit, watching $86,786 disappear after driving the car a mere 290 miles. The second owner did slightly better but still ended up with a $16,000 loss after adding just 207 miles. This remarkable level of depreciation clearly indicates that if you're seeking a sports car or GT that maintains its value, purchasing an Aston Martin may not be the best choice.

The window sticker reveals part of the situation. While the base MSRP for the DB11 was $232,500, this specific model was heavily optioned, raising the final amount significantly. Notable features include a $9,000 Bang & Olufsen BeoSound sound system, $1,600 for black Aston Martin badges, $1,600 for ventilated front seats, $3,200 for 20-inch black wheels, $1,200 for smoked taillights, and over $10,000 in interior trim enhancements, including $2,100 worth of piano black detailing.

The exterior is painted in a color called China Grey, which pairs well with the various black accents. Overall, it presents a fairly understated specification, and one might have expected this to help mitigate severe depreciation. Clearly, that expectation was not met.

A review of the Bring a Trailer auction highlights that most of the asset depreciation occurred in the first year. In July 2024, the car was sold with 290 miles (467 km) for $190,000, translating to a substantial loss of $86,786 in just over a year.

Contributing to the car's declining value is the fact that, by mid-2023, the DB11 was succeeded by the DB12, which offers more power, a refreshed design, and a significantly more modern interior.

However, this does not diminish the impressive qualities of the DB11 itself. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 engine that generates 630 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels.
