Bentley has revealed a Flying Spur featuring an ombre paint fade that shifts from Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue.
The application of this unique paint job on the Flying Spur takes around 60 hours to complete. This option is priced at $68,000, and there are only three available color combinations.
Adding a touch of elegance to its collection, Bentley showcased their ombre paint option at Monterey Car Week with a custom Continental GT Speed. The same finish has now been made available on the popular Flying Spur.
Scheduled to be presented at the Southampton International Boat Show this weekend, the vehicle transitions from Topaz Blue at the front to Windsor Blue at the back. The gradual shift between the two shades meets in the center, giving a distinct appearance across the doors, side sills, and roof.
Bentley noted that the ombre design requires nearly 60 hours of labor from two highly skilled paint technicians. This intricate process begins with applying the two separate colors at both ends of the car. The paints are then tinted and applied in layers to achieve a smooth and symmetrical transition on either side of the vehicle.
This high level of artistry and craftsmanship comes at a steep price, as Bentley described the Ombré by Mulliner design as their most exclusive paint option, starting at $68,000 (£48,000). Consequently, the cost of this paint job surpasses that of many luxury cars, including the BMW 5-Series, Cadillac Lyriq, and Mercedes E-Class, and could even purchase nearly four Nissan Versa sedans for the same amount.
Such a hefty price tag reflects the limited availability of this option, as it is constrained by the intricate nature of how the two colors blend. Bentley explained that the colors must be meticulously selected to ensure a consistent and gradual transition, while also preventing the formation of a third color; for example, if yellow transitions to blue, it would create a green hue in the center.
At launch, there are only three color options: Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue, Tungsten to Onyx, and Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame. However, additional color combinations are anticipated in the future.
