An unconventional concept transforms the LX SUV into a mobile wardrobe and nail bar.

Lexus has reimagined its large LX SUV as the Glam LX concept.

This unique creation features a full dressing suite within its cargo area.

The interior includes a refrigerated makeup station and a drop-down mirror.

And now, as Monty Python would say, for something entirely different. I mean really different. Women represent around half of all drivers, yet you'd hardly know it based on the focus automakers seem to place on creating concept cars for men who fantasize about the wilderness or empty racetracks. Lexus is addressing this gap with the Glam LX.

Let's not get sidetracked by debates about some men enjoying makeup and some women not, or women relishing rugged trails or the excitement of track days. All of that is true, but it's clear who the Glam LX aims to attract, and it's probably not me or you. Nevertheless, it captures attention merely for being so distinct.

      A Visual Spectacle

Beginning as a standard LX, the SUV has been adorned with a pearl symphony chameleon wrap, enhanced with crystal-faceted badging, and outfitted with a pink and white leather interior highlighted by mohair and silk. While this alone would make the LX a head-turner, it’s actually the least astonishing aspect of the transformation.

Opening the rear French doors reveals a complete dressing suite featuring custom pullout chairs and dual illuminated mirrors for makeup adjustments during travel. A retractable privacy screen ensures outfit changes can occur simultaneously, with options selected from an LED-lit clothing rack or built-in drawers.

      Beyond a Simple Makeover

The theme continues in the cabin, where you'll find heated tool holders for hair straighteners, a refrigerated makeup console, an LED-lit compartment for handbags, and various storage areas for items typically unfamiliar to men. While this might seem excessive regardless of gender, it’s no more absurd than many male-focused concepts like the Lucid Gravity X we encounter annually. Truthfully, it’s more enjoyable than many of those alternatives.

“The Glam LX celebrates the latest chapter of Lexus, one that moves beyond comfort and craftsmanship to connect with our customers’ passions and desire for self-expression,” said Lisa McQueen from Lexus’s marketing department regarding the SUV, which is a collaborative effort between the automaker and Complete Customs.

McQueen also referred to it as “a bold statement of Lexus design and innovation presented in a wholly unexpected manner.”

She’s correct, but perhaps it will motivate other automakers to consider similar approaches.
