Ford May Be Ready to Address a Gap in Their Lineup With a Focus-Sized Model | Carscoops

As the European Focus is set to be discontinued in November, speculation about a crossover replacement is intensifying.

Reportedly, Ford is planning to introduce a new crossover similar in size to the Focus in 2027, which may be available with hybrid and electric powertrains. This new model is expected to be sold alongside the Kuga and will likely share some components with it.

Consumer preferences have shifted away from sedans and hatchbacks towards SUVs, prompting automakers to reduce their car offerings and expand their range of crossovers.

Ford is said to be adding another crossover to its lineup in 2027, potentially filling the gap left by the departing Focus. This model is expected to be manufactured in Spain and will play a crucial role in Ford's reestablishment in the European market.

According to Autocar, this new midsize crossover will not replace the Kuga, which is noteworthy since the Kuga’s U.S. counterpart, the Escape, is being discontinued.

Instead, the new crossover will be built alongside the Kuga and will be available with hybrid and electric options. The two vehicles are rumored to share critical components in order to reduce costs.

Details about the crossover remain scarce, but it may utilize the older C2 platform that also supports models like the Bronco Sport, Maverick, and the outgoing Focus. It is expected to be relatively affordable, competing with the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Volkswagen Tiguan.

While exact pricing details are not yet available, there's a significant price gap between the £26,245 ($33,600) Puma Gen-E in the UK and the £39,285 ($50,300) Explorer EV. If the upcoming electric variant were priced around £32,765 ($42,000), it would fit well between these two models.

At this stage, not much more is known about the crossover, but Ford is anticipated to prioritize design and driving performance. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the vehicle will be offered in the U.S. market.
