The nearly production-ready Epiq electric crossover has been unveiled ahead of its official launch planned for mid-2026.

The Skoda Epiq showcar provides a preview of the electric vehicle that is set to come to market in mid-2026. It is built on the same platform as VW’s ID. Polo and ID. Cross, measuring just 4.1 meters in length. This compact SUV boasts a range of 425 km and offers a 475-liter cargo space suitable for family use.

At the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, the focus isn't solely on Volkswagen’s ID. Cross; Skoda’s Epiq also shared the spotlight, showcasing an updated version of the compact electric SUV initially revealed as a concept last year. The Epiq aims to be a stylish and practical option within Skoda's EV range, offering everyday functionality at a price comparable to its gasoline-powered equivalent.

In lieu of displaying the production model, Skoda introduced a near-production showcar that closely resembles the final version. The design is an evolution of the 2024 concept, featuring minor yet significant tweaks such as redesigned LEDs, an altered grille, modified bumpers, and new mirrors, all of which bring the SUV closer to its market-ready form, expected to launch in mid-2026.

      Dimensions and Design

The Epiq measures 4.1 m (161.4 inches) long, making it quite similar in size to the Fabia subcompact hatch and slightly larger than the Indian-spec Kylaq. As the smallest electric vehicle in Skoda’s lineup, it is positioned beneath the Elroq and Enyaq models.

The Epiq is the first vehicle to fully adopt Skoda’s Modern Solid design language, which will influence future models from the brand. Key design features include the new “Tech-Deck” front end, sleek T-shaped LED lighting, and a pronounced tornado line across its uniquely shaped rear. The showcar is finished in Cashmere matte with glossy black accents, Cosmo gray trim, and newly crafted alloy wheels.

      What About The Interior?

While interior images are not yet available, the Epiq is expected to incorporate design elements from the VW ID. Cross. This will likely include an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels for ease of use. Features such as wireless charging have also been confirmed.

Despite its compact size, Skoda claims that the SUV will accommodate five passengers comfortably. The interior is designed with practicality in mind, featuring hooks for bags, secure fastening points, and hidden compartments for underfloor storage, as well as a 475-liter (16.8-cubic-foot) luggage capacity.

      Shared Underpinnings

The Epiq will utilize the MEB Entry architecture, which it shares with the upcoming VW ID. Polo, ID Cross, and Cupra Raval. While Skoda has not detailed specifications, it has confirmed a driving range of up to 425 km (264 miles), surpassing the VW ID. Cross by 5 km (3 miles). Both models are anticipated to be equipped with a front-mounted electric motor generating 208 hp (155 kW / 211 PS).

      How Much Will It Cost?

Production of the Epiq is set to occur at Volkswagen’s Navarra facility in Spain, with sales beginning in mid-2026. Skoda has stated that it will be the most affordable electric vehicle in its lineup, with pricing expected to be “comparable” to that of the ICE-powered Kamiq. This suggests a starting price around €25,330 ($29,700) in Germany and £24,975 ($33,700) in the UK.

Competitors outside the VW Group will include smaller electric SUVs such as the Ford Puma Gen-E, Jeep Avenger, Kia EV2, Mini Aceman, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Renault 4 E-Tech, among others.

The small electric SUV is one of the two significant introductions from Skoda at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, alongside the Vision O concept, which previews the future Octavia estate featuring a fully electric powertrain.
