Porsche hasn't announced how long it will take to fulfill the existing orders for the models.
The sports cars were discontinued in Europe at the beginning of 2024 due to non-compliance with cybersecurity regulations.
Next year, Porsche plans to introduce all-electric versions of both the Cayman and Boxster.
For many years, customers wishing to own a Porsche sports car had options like the Boxster, the Cayman, and the 911. However, as Weissach continues to transition toward electrification, the internal combustion engine (ICE) variants of the 718 Boxster and Cayman have been discontinued.
This decision was somewhat anticipated. Enthusiasts have been aware of the eventual end for these models for some time, and they had already been withdrawn from sale in certain regions. Porsche has now confirmed that order books globally are officially closed. For those still wishing to purchase a brand-new unit, the only remaining choice will be unsold inventory held by dealerships.

Although new orders are not being accepted, as reported by Autocar, Porsche has not yet clarified when production will officially cease. Some reports indicate it could take until 2026 to complete the existing orders for the 718 Cayman and Boxster. While the company hasn’t commented on those speculations, the final vehicles produced may become highly desired collector's items in the future.
As previously mentioned, the end of the two models has been expected for several years. In early 2024, Porsche was obligated to halt sales of the Cayman and Boxster in Europe because they did not meet cybersecurity standards, and it was deemed not worthwhile to update them to align with current requirements.
An Electric Future
While the ICE variants of the 718 models are now gone, the Cayman and Boxster names will continue as Porsche is actively developing all-electric versions of both. Prototypes have been frequently spotted testing over the last two years, with production models expected to debut by 2026.
It is believed that Porsche will offer the new models in single-motor, rear-wheel-drive, and dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configurations. Specific technical details are not available yet, but it is reasonable to expect they will be faster than their predecessors.
However, while we are confident that the German manufacturer will ensure the driving dynamics match those of the previous models, evoking the same emotional response with an electric powertrain instead of a combustion one may prove to be a challenge.
