The new Low Power Mode will deactivate features such as Sentry Mode and cabin preconditioning.

When plugged in and charging, Sentry Mode will remain operational in Low Power Mode.

Tesla owners will still be able to use the brand's smartphone app to access their vehicles.

Picture going on vacation, leaving your Tesla parked, and coming back to find that the battery has quietly depleted. It’s a frustrating experience that owners have faced for years, but Tesla is finally introducing a solution. The new feature, called Low Power Mode, is intended to turn off energy-consuming systems when a vehicle is left idle for an extended time.

Launched with the 2025.32 software update, Low Power Mode can be activated via the main infotainment display by going to Controls > Charging. When enabled, the system disables several of Tesla’s most energy-intensive features.

      Reducing Power Consumption

The most significant feature affected is Sentry Mode. While this system is useful for recording incidents when a Tesla is parked, it has been known to quickly deplete the battery. In addition to deactivating Sentry Mode, Low Power Mode also shuts off Summon Standby, cabin overheat protection, scheduled preconditioning, camp mode, climate control, defrost functions, seat and steering wheel heaters, and power outputs on the Cybertruck.

Owners will be glad to know that if they activate Low Power Mode while charging their EV, Sentry Mode will continue to operate. The climate control and camp mode will also stay functional during Supercharging.

Rest assured, Your Tesla Will Still Be Connected

Crucially, Low Power Mode does not strip a new Tesla of its modern features; it remains connected to AI, the cloud, and other systems common in new vehicles. Tesla cars will continue to be accessible via the Tesla app and will automatically manage battery temperature.

Tesla has not disclosed the exact extent to which Low Power Mode will minimize battery drain, as it may vary based on the systems owners choose to keep active and the conditions where they park their vehicle.

In any case, this is encouraging news for owners who might have worried about returning from a vacation to find their Tesla’s battery depleted.
