Dealer Declines $58,000 Bid for 448-Mile Camaro ZL1 That Has Been Idle for Eight Years | Carscoops

Although this Camaro ZL1 does not include the desirable 1LE package, it still has over $7,000 in options.

A 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 recently did not sell at auction.

The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine produces 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Having been parked for eight years, this ZL1 has only been driven 448 miles in total.

If you had approximately $60,000 to invest in one of Chevy's performance vehicles, would you choose a brand-new Corvette Stingray or a 2017 Camaro ZL1 with just a few hundred miles on it?

For many car enthusiasts, the Corvette may seem like the clear choice, but someone recently made a bid of $58,000 on a ZL1 that appeared nearly new. The only issue? The dealer selling it wasn’t willing to part with the muscle car.

As far as used Camaro ZL1s go, this one is nearly immaculate. It comes in Jet Black and has only accumulated 448 miles (721 km) since it was new. It is likely among the lowest-mileage ZL1s in the country and was advertised through Cars & Bids with a clean Carfax report, verifying that it has never been involved in an accident and has no mileage discrepancies.

      Muscle with Bite

The performance from the ZL1 is undeniably impressive. Powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, it generates 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels.

Although this specific car does not have the 1LE package, which includes several aerodynamic enhancements, we believe some buyers might prefer its subtly less aggressive design.

When the 2017 Camaro ZL1 was released, its starting price was around $63,000, making it a solid value given its performance at the time. However, this segment evolves rapidly, and just a few years later, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 debuted with 760 hp, overshadowing the ZL1's appeal.

      Worth the Money?

Taking all of this into consideration, the seller of this vehicle may have made a smart move by accepting the highest bid of $58,000. While there is a possibility that the car's value could appreciate, that is not guaranteed, especially since its production numbers were not particularly limited.

What’s your opinion? Should a low-mileage Camaro ZL1 be achieving almost the original MSRP of $69,195 after options, or should buyers expect a greater discount for a vehicle that is already eight years old?
