Uber and Turo have collaborated to offer a complimentary pool truck experience.
The pool truck, based on the Rivian R1T, is available for bookings in Los Angeles and Miami.
Guests can enjoy popsicles, branded merchandise, and a $300 credit towards a future Turo rental.
Making a splash usually means merely creating excitement, but Uber and Turo are taking it literally with their latest promotion. The two companies have created a pool truck, allowing customers to book short and enjoyable rides in a Rivian R1T transformed into a mobile oasis. For a few days in Miami, fortunate participants can experience free two-hour sessions complete with additional perks.
The initiative began in Los Angeles on August 23 and 24. The Rivian pool truck will move to Miami on August 30 and 31, providing a comprehensive experience.
The pool truck will include floaties, frozen snacks, and even a personal attendant to maintain the fun atmosphere. Participants will also receive a $300 credit for future Turo rentals through Uber Rent. Notably, swimming is not permitted due to the pool's depth of approximately 18 inches.

Uber and Turo have mentioned that even if you can’t attend the event in person, they are offering $25 off bookings of $100 or more until September 1. Uber One members can earn an additional 10 percent credit on this offer. Currently, bookings appear to be closed, but it’s worth checking for availability. Reactions to the event have registered as positive due to its sold-out status, though online responses seem mixed.
The Internet's Reaction
Humorous comments abound, such as “If that’s a pool, I have an ocean in my backyard,” especially considering both Miami and LA have actual oceans nearby for those looking to swim.
Posts from the rivnstock community on Reddit
Some individuals have noted that the concept may be somewhat unappealing since Rivians are not equipped with onboard water filtration. One commenter remarked, “So you get in and do what? Just sit in a soup of everyone’s dirt? It’s not a hot tub, just a glorified bath.”
A Brief Spectacle
Whether it’s a clever marketing strategy or an intriguing experiment, the pool truck seems likely to grab attention for a brief period before fading away. It’s visually striking, enjoyable, and clearly well-planned, but as a long-term concept, it may not be the most practical or hygienic.
