Hyundai is set to reveal a new fully electric concept vehicle at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich.
Teaser images showcase full-width LED light bars on both the front and rear, along with a ducktail spoiler at the back.
The concept is expected to evolve into a production EV slated for release next year.
Hyundai has released initial teasers for a new concept that will debut on September 9 at the IAA Mobility Show 2025 in Munich. While specifics remain undisclosed, the concept is anticipated to develop into a production subcompact EV, potentially named the Ioniq 2.
The images hint that the new model will feature full-width LED light bars for both headlights and taillights, reminiscent of the updated Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan. In terms of design, the EV appears to have a robust fastback/hatchback profile with an incorporated ducktail spoiler.

Sporty bumper intakes, a pronounced chin, and flared fenders are also visible. Hyundai plans to release two additional sets of teaser images ahead of the reveal, likely providing a clearer perspective on the exterior design.
Recently, our spy photographers captured a camouflaged prototype believed to be an upcoming Hyundai EV. The shape of this prototype aligns with the teasers, although the final concept is expected to include a unique body kit and distinct wheels.
The production version of the EV is anticipated to be the smallest member of the Ioniq family—hence the speculations surrounding the Ioniq 2 name. It will likely be positioned above the electric Inster, acting as a zero-emission alternative to the ICE-powered i20 supermini and Bayon crossover.

It is likely that the new EV will utilize the E-GMP platform shared with the Kia EV2 and EV3 crossovers. This setup may allow it to be powered by a single electric motor generating 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), drawing energy from a 58.3 kWh battery pack.
The compact Ioniq will compete with other electric subcompact hatchbacks like the Renault 5 E-Tech, Nissan Micra, Peugeot E-208, Opel Corsa Electric, Citroen e-C3, and BYD Dolphin.
Recent reports suggest the model could reach the market in the first half of 2026. Before that, the concept version will be showcased at the IAA Mobility 2025 event, which takes place in Munich, Germany, from September 9 to 14.
