Tesla might change the graphics for the AMD-powered Model S and X.

The update could introduce interactive, game-like 3D car visuals.

Rivian, Ford, Volvo, Lotus, and GMC are already utilizing Unreal Engine.

Owners of Tesla vehicles are set for a significant upgrade in their interiors. A hacker has suggested that the company plans to switch to a new set of visuals. This new graphics package could rival some of the most impressive video games currently available. Importantly, it indicates that Tesla is following the examples set by brands such as Rivian, Volvo, and Ford.

Unreal Engine, developed by Epic Games, is a 3D creation tool primarily employed in video game development. Recently, its use has expanded into other sectors and, as per a recent report, it may soon be featured in Teslas. Long-time hacker GreenTheOnly has disclosed code updates that suggest Unreal Engine graphics will soon be available for the Model S and Model X.

“Tesla is integrating Unreal Engine-based AP visuals (the current version is based on Godot). The binaries are already being distributed, starting from firmware 2025.20, but only on AMD-based S and X models for now,” he mentioned in a post on X. After some effort, he was able to get the system functioning on the main infotainment display.

It seems that users will have the capability to interact with the car graphic, rotate it, and open or close specific components. We anticipate that these graphics will eventually be incorporated into the Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) displays as well. One enthusiast created a mock-up of what they expect it to look like, which can be seen below.

Interestingly, Tesla isn’t pioneering this technology. Brands like Rivian, Ford, Lotus, Volvo, and GMC are already using Unreal Engine, according to The Verge. Many may recall that GMC showcased this technology during the Hummer EV launch, which plays a significant role in how the large pickup displays mode changes, status updates, and general information. Given the appealing look of the display, this update will likely be well-received by Tesla users soon.

I'm facing some challenges getting Unreal Engine to activate on the cluster, but it seems that the main screen's car avatar is also controlled by it. You can now interact with it, and it’s becoming more detailed. See the example: pic.twitter.com/6lpXr6BK0K
