Skoda is teasing the Vision O concept wagon, set to be unveiled at the Munich IAA show in September.
The Vision O serves as a preview for the upcoming all-electric Octavia, expected to go on sale by 2029.
It shares its foundations with the forthcoming VW ID.Golf, but features a longer wheelbase for enhanced interior space.
Update: As the Munich IAA show approaches, Skoda has released another shadowy teaser of the upcoming Vision O Wagon. The original story continues below.
It’s a beneficial time for Skoda salespeople. The Czech brand saw a 13.6 percent increase in registrations during the first half of 2025, largely attributed to the success of its electric SUVs, the Elroq and Enyaq. This year, they will be joined by the smaller Epiq, but today Skoda highlighted that its popular sedans and wagons are also transitioning to electric.
Skoda is teasing the Vision O concept which will be fully revealed at the Munich IAA in September. The ‘O’ indicates that it previews the next-generation Octavia compact, set to be released before the decade concludes, featuring an electric drivetrain for the first time.
A single silhouetted image reveals the distinct profile of the wagon, appearing sportier than any previous Skoda model. The windshield is angled back into a low roofline, which dips slightly toward the rear, where it meets a hatch designed for both style and aerodynamic efficiency rather than cargo capacity.
The design has a noticeable Audi influence, reminiscent of the A6 e-tron Avant from its sister company, although the front and rear LED signature clearly identifies it as a Skoda. The brand states that the concept will demonstrate how it is evolving its Modern Solid design philosophy for the next generation of vehicles.
Under the surface, the next Octavia will not be based on the larger A6 e-tron, which utilizes VW’s PPE platform, but rather on the smaller VW ID.Golf that is expected to debut in showrooms by 2029, around the same time as the Skoda. Both the Golf and Octavia EVs will utilize the Group’s SSP platform and feature 800-volt charging technology. However, the Skoda’s longer wheelbase and overall dimensions mean it will provide greater interior and cargo space and should come with a lower price tag. Owners have long maintained that the Octavia is the superior choice compared to the Golf.
When the production model launches in three to four years, it will offer both single and dual-motor powertrains, but don’t anticipate the immediate discontinuation of the current combustion Octavia. The popularity of hybrid powertrains in Europe suggests that the two models will likely coexist for some time.
