Stellantis' Discreet Concept Aims to Propel Opel's Hot EVs into a New Era | Carscoops
A mysterious electric concept featuring a rally-inspired design and track-ready components is set to launch in Munich this September.
Opel has teased a new GSE concept that will make its debut at the IAA Mobility Show in September.
This concept showcases a racing cockpit, roll cage, and an aerodynamic design influenced by classic rally cars.
It will also provide a glimpse into the styling and technology of future high-performance electric vehicles.
A new chapter for Opel’s performance division is on the horizon. The company has revitalized its GSE sub-brand and is preparing a show car that reflects its updated vision. Official teasers have offered a sneak peek of the unnamed concept ahead of its unveiling at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich next month.
The concept is expected to come with a high-performance, fully electric powertrain. However, from the limited teaser images, the specific body style remains uncertain, leaving us to speculate whether it will be a sports car, coupe, hatchback, sedan, SUV, or crossover.
Key features include the latest evolution of the Opel Compass lighting signature, which comprises vertical and horizontal LED strips that outline illuminated emblems both at the front and rear. Its exterior boasts a unique livery that pairs silver paint with lime yellow accents, further enhanced by aerodynamic wheels inspired by the 1980s Manta 400 rally car.
Constructed for the track, the interior includes a futuristic racing-inspired yoke and a lightweight driver’s seat. Additionally, it incorporates a roll cage, indicating its track-oriented design.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl remarked that the car "will once again send pulses racing. It will preview forthcoming models, captivate with its stunning design, and resonate with automotive enthusiasts worldwide. More details will be revealed soon, so stay tuned."
The automaker will disclose additional information about the concept shortly. The IAA Mobility 2025 is scheduled to take place in Munich, Germany, from September 8 to 14.
This reveal comes after the recent introduction of the Mokka GSE, Opel’s first high-performance electric vehicle of this new era. The small SUV will soon be accompanied by performance variants of other models, likely including the next generation of the Corsa subcompact hatchback.
