Rejecting $101K Proved to Be a Huge Mistake for This Corvette E-Ray Seller | Carscoops

      A pristine all-wheel-drive performance coupe recently sold for significantly less than anticipated, indicating a notable market trend that buyers will appreciate.

      This C8 Corvette was sold for $89,000 after bidding peaked at $101,500 just a month earlier. Few performance vehicles in the US offer as much for under $90,000 today. This Corvette E-Ray 3LZ boasts a striking red and black leather interior.

      It's well-known that there's never been a better time to purchase a C8 Chevy Corvette Z06 than now. The introduction of the 2026 Corvette lineup, featuring the ZR1 and ZR1X, has altered the hierarchy, relegating the once-leading C8 Z06. As a result, the prices of used Z06 models have experienced a significant decline, and this trend is continuing.

      Interestingly, the prices for the Corvette E-Ray are also decreasing, making it an even more attractive option compared to the Z06.

      The E-Ray in question is nearly flawless. It's a 2024 model finished in Arctic White and was auctioned through Bring a Trailer last month. Although it's a well-appointed 3LZ model with an original price of $118,935, it ultimately sold for only $89,000.

      To add insult to injury for the seller, they could have secured a much higher price just four weeks earlier. In June, the same E-Ray was listed on BaT but didn't meet the seller's reserve despite bids reaching $101,500. By waiting an additional month, likely in hopes of a better sale, the seller ended up losing an extra $12,500. That's unfortunate.

      Declining Prices, Increased Appeal

      This situation is obviously disappointing for sellers, but it’s excellent news for buyers. While the E-Ray may have been overshadowed by the Z06 and its high-revving 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8, the E-Ray's all-wheel-drive system actually allows it to accelerate faster in a straight line than the Z06.

      Moreover, the E-Ray provides more accessible power lower in the rev range, while the Z06 requires higher revs to maximize its V8 performance.

      Aside from performance, the E-Ray features a softer suspension setup, making it a preferable choice for daily driving. Its 6.2-liter V8 also includes cylinder deactivation, enhancing fuel efficiency compared to the Z06, which does not have this feature. While fuel efficiency may not be the primary concern for C8 buyers, every bit saved adds up.
