The Upcoming Alfa Romeo and Maserati Sports Cars Might Feature an Unexpected Manual Option | Carscoops
The limited edition model might make its debut next year, boasting over 621 hp.
Alfa Romeo and Maserati are allegedly collaborating on a special edition sports car.
This model could be based on the GranTurismo and feature a manual transmission.
It is anticipated that these models will include an enhanced twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine producing more than 621 hp.
Sources suggest that Alfa Romeo and Maserati are considering a limited edition vehicle that could follow the legacy of the 33 Stradale and MC20, with this new car likely derived from the GranTurismo.
As reported by Autocar, this enigmatic model might be released as soon as next year, potentially becoming “the most exclusive and powerful combustion engine vehicle the company has manufactured since the MC12.” The report indicates it could be powered by an advanced version of the company's twin-turbo 3.0-liter Nettuno V6.
While specific figures are not yet available, early rumors suggest this car may exceed the MCPura's power output of 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. Maserati's engineering head, Davide Danesin, hinted that the car may forgo electrification in favor of a manual transmission.
He referred to this choice as an “opportunity” since it would underscore the car’s status as a “purely mechanical vehicle.” Danesin mentioned that while a manual may not be practical for mass-production models, a limited edition could present a different scenario.
The publication speculates that the Maserati version could launch next year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tipo 26, the brand's inaugural car. Following that, an Alfa Romeo variant may be introduced the next year in honor of the 6C 1500, which is also celebrating its centenary. While the outcome remains uncertain, the expectation is that these models will be priced significantly higher than the MCPura.
