This new model is expected to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in the low 3-second range.

The Polestar 5 prototype has been spotted testing near Borussia Dortmund’s training ground in Germany.

Reportedly, some soccer players had a chance to ride in the 872-hp dual-motor electric performance vehicle.

This super sedan is aimed at competing with models such as the Porsche Taycan, RS e-tron GT, and AMG GT EV.

It has been three years since the highly anticipated Polestar 5 was first showcased as a heavily camouflaged prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. During this period, the Polestar lineup has expanded to include the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, yet we are still awaiting the launch of the stylish Polestar 5 sedan.

Fortunately, the electric vehicle manufacturer is actively developing this new model. About seven months after our spy photographers captured it during testing in Scandinavia, a YouTuber and Carscoops reader recorded a Polestar 5 being tested in Germany.

According to a recent report, the 2025 Polestar 5 has been revealed and aims to set a new standard for electric vehicles with its 872 hp.

In terms of appearance, this prototype is similar to the others we’ve seen, with the exception of a shiny white rear diffuser instead of a more understated black one. Sascha Pallenberg, who filmed the vehicle, noted that the Polestar 5 was seen around Borussia Dortmund’s training area, home to one of Germany’s most successful soccer clubs.

It has been reported that some players from the team took short test rides in the prototype, leading to speculation that Polestar may soon partner with the team as a sponsor.

      Aiming for High-Performance Competitors

Polestar intends to place the 5 in competition with the Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, and the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV, which was recently teased with an eye-catching concept. In 2022, Polestar indicated that its flagship sedan could produce 872 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) using a pair of electric motors. There is potential for a slight increase in power, especially since the latest RS e-tron GT Performance generates 912 hp, while the AMG could exceed 1,000 hp.

Regardless of the final horsepower and torque ratings, this car is expected to be an impressive straight-line performer, potentially achieving 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in the low 3-second range, if not slightly faster.

Design-wise, the 5 will maintain its identity as a Polestar with its bold split headlights and striking rear design featuring a full-width light bar. Its interior will also adhere to a minimalist style like other Polestar models, meaning the 5 will largely omit physical buttons and switches, with most controls accessible through the infotainment display.
