An Italian racing team and a renowned design firm have teamed up to bring back a classic sports car.

JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina are working together on a limited-edition modern sports car that honors an iconic model while incorporating contemporary design elements.

The car will be produced in Italy, with a limited number of units crafted at their headquarters in Milan.

For those with even a casual interest in motorsport, the name JAS Motorsport is likely familiar. This Italian team has spent the last 27 years as Honda’s official racing partner, participating in various series, including the TCR championship.

Now, JAS is entering the realm of high-performance road cars and has joined forces with perhaps the most well-known design firm, Pininfarina, to achieve this goal.

Very few specifics have been disclosed regarding this new venture. However, the two companies have stated that they will “reimagine one of the most iconic sports cars of the past and present it to car enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.” It’s clear that this will not be a completely new vehicle developed from scratch.

JAS has also mentioned that the sports car will “honor its origins and unique appearances while featuring modern styling cues.” A single teaser image of the car has been released, but it reveals little. The image showcases sporty wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and red brake calipers.

The design seems to include smooth front quarter panels and substantial air vents located just behind the front wheels. The teaser also indicates that the wing mirror is attached to the main door and that at least one sharp crease runs along the sides of the car. Given Pininfarina's history of designing beautiful vehicles, it is highly unlikely they will falter on this project.

The racing team plans to manufacture the sports car in limited quantities at its Arluno, Milan headquarters. More details will be shared prior to the full reveal, which is currently anticipated for the first half of 2026.
