Lexus has enhanced its luxury minivan, making it more comfortable with subtle updates that are felt rather than seen.

The LM500h has received improvements in Japan, focusing on the comfort of rear passengers.

The four-seat variant features brighter interior lighting, a small tray, and a repositioned door switch.

The luxury minivan also includes additional insulation, which minimizes noise and vibrations within the cabin.

Even the most upscale vehicles can improve, including the Lexus LM, a premium minivan that combines comfort with functionality, although it has not been available in the U.S. Recently, Lexus introduced a lightly refreshed version of the LM500h in Japan, specifically designed to enhance passenger comfort and everyday usability.

Don't expect to find any changes on the exterior, as the second-generation LM maintains the original design launched in 2023. Instead, Lexus has concentrated on optimizing the interior with thoughtful, minor updates that significantly enhance the experience for rear passengers.

      Quieter, More Intelligent, More Convenient

One major enhancement is a quieter driving experience. The addition of sound-dampening and noise-absorbing materials around the rear wheel wells and tailgate area has reduced overall noise, leading to a more tranquil atmosphere inside.

In the Executive four-seat configuration, Lexus has also implemented a practical adjustment: the power sliding door switch has been relocated from the ceiling to the center console between the rear seats. This modification allows passengers to operate the doors without needing to reach overhead or stand up.

The center console now includes a small tray intended for smartphones and personal belongings. Moreover, a new overhead light has been installed to illuminate the floor near the rear doors, facilitating easier entry and exit from the cabin at night.

      Subtle Enhancements Throughout the Range

Both the four-seat Executive and the base six-seat Version L trims feature brighter interior lighting, contributing to a more inviting environment. However, if the new lighting feels excessive, passengers can adjust the brightness to their preference.

There are no modifications to the hybrid powertrain of the LM500h, which delivers a combined output of 366 hp (273 kW / 371 PS) from a 2.4-liter turbo engine paired with dual electric motors. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

      Pricing and Availability

Orders for the updated LM500h will be accepted in Japan starting August 1. The price for the six-seat Version L remains at ¥15,000,000 (approximately $101,000), while the Executive trim has experienced a minor increase, now commencing at ¥20,000,000 (around $134,700), a rise of ¥100,000 ($673) from its previous price. Similar updates are expected to be introduced in other markets soon.
