Mitsubishi has unveiled the updated Outlander PHEV, featuring new styling and an enhanced powertrain.

Additionally, the standard Outlander will receive a new hybrid engine, which replaces the existing 2.5-liter four-cylinder.

For the 2026 model year, the Eclipse Cross does away with built-in navigation, requiring users to rely on Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for navigation.

In a comprehensive announcement, Mitsubishi has revealed updates for their entire US model lineup. Noteworthy changes include a refreshed Outlander Plug-In Hybrid and an updated Outlander that now includes a new hybrid powertrain.

Taking a closer look at the Outlander, the 2026 model is outfitted with a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, reminiscent of what is found in the Eclipse Cross. It incorporates the company's first mild-hybrid system and promises enhanced confidence and drivability with the assistance of electrified torque for off-the-line acceleration.

Mitsubishi did not provide specific figures but confirmed that the hybrid powertrain will replace the current 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which yields 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) of torque. This increase is modest compared to the non-hybrid 1.5-liter engine, which generates 152 hp (113 kW / 154 PS) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm).

In addition to the hybrid engine, the 2026 Outlander adds a new LE trim that fits between the base ES and the mid-tier SE. New options like the SEL Black Edition and a Ralliart model are also available, all expected to launch in the fourth quarter.

The 2026 Outlander Plug-In Hybrid receives the same facelift introduced for the standard model last year, featuring a new front bumper, updated grille, smoked taillights, and new 20-inch wheels.

Interior upgrades include a redesigned center console, a new Yamaha audio system, and an optional 12.3-inch infotainment display. Buyers can look forward to heated and ventilated front seats, higher-quality materials, and improved sound insulation, among other enhancements.

Set to debut in early 2026, the crossover will boast an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain. While the details are sparse, Mitsubishi confirmed a larger capacity battery for extended electric-only range and a re-tuned suspension with new springs and dampers, along with updates to bushings and stabilizer bars.

Moving on to the Outlander Sport, it continues unchanged, presenting a Trail Edition for 2026. Though specific details were scarce, the model is expected to feature distinctive wheels and graphics.

Finally, the 2026 Eclipse Cross will forgo built-in navigation, as Mitsubishi believes most users prefer utilizing Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Moreover, the SEL and SEL Touring trims will now feature standard "Eclipse Cross" hood badging.
