The base model of the Crosstrek sees a price increase of $435, along with an additional 28 horsepower.
Subaru has unveiled the 2026 Crosstrek, which now includes more features and a new hybrid powertrain.
The hybrid version starts at $33,995 and boasts a distinctive powertrain that generates a total of 194 horsepower.
The entry-level Crosstrek is now fitted with a larger 2.5-liter engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.
Six months ago, Subaru launched the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid and has now confirmed that its starting price will be $33,995. This represents a $7,000 increase compared to the entry-level model, which starts at just $26,995.
However, the situation is more complex, as the Hybrid is based on the well-equipped Sport and Limited trims. The Sport Hybrid is $3,370 pricier than the standard Sport, while the Limited Hybrid has a $2,000 higher price tag.
Additionally, the Hybrid trims come with more features than their counterparts. The Sport Hybrid includes a slightly updated exterior with exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels and a moonroof.
Inside, buyers will discover a more sophisticated cabin featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, GPS navigation, “Hybrid” floor mats, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. This is complemented by Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Steering, and Emergency Lane Keep Assist.
The Limited Hybrid includes further enhancements over the Limited, such as a ten-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system and perforated gray StarTex upholstery with contrasting orange stitching. This model also offers a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, special floor mats, and navigation.
The major update is the hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, a lithium-ion battery, and a continuously variable transmission paired with two integrated motors. This setup provides a total output of 194 horsepower (145 kW / 197 PS), although Subaru has not released any fuel economy figures.
Excluding the Hybrid trims, the base Crosstrek now features a 2.5-liter Boxer engine producing 180 horsepower (134 kW / 183 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque, replacing the previous standard 2.0-liter engine that generated 152 horsepower (113 kW / 154 PS) and 145 lb-ft (196 Nm).
In addition to the increased power, the 2026 Crosstrek also includes new features such as rear side airbags, keyless access with push-button start, and an automatic vehicle shutdown function that turns off the car if it hasn’t been driven for 30 minutes. That’s a considerable upgrade for an additional $435.
The next step up is the Crosstrek Limited, priced at $32,995, which adds a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, emergency lane keep assist, and a DriverFocus distraction mitigation system. The $33,795 Crosstrek Wilderness also includes a heated steering wheel.
Finally, all 2026 Crosstreks feature black exterior badging, and the non-hybrid models now come with a new eight-speed manual shift mode.
