The 24-year-old driver was found to have several drugs in his system.

Australian police issued a defect notice for the modified Model T due to several problems.

The Ford hot rod was also deemed unroadworthy during the roadside inspection.

It’s not every day you hear about a century-old car being caught speeding, let alone one involved in a mix of modern traffic violations. Yet here we are, as if the rules of time and reason don't apply on Australian roads.

With a 2.9-liter four-cylinder engine generating just 20 hp, the Ford Model T is not what you'd expect to see speeding and attracting police attention. Nonetheless, a driver in Australia was recently caught exceeding the speed limit in a Model T. To make matters worse, the driver was also found to have multiple drugs in their system.

This wasn't an ordinary Model T. According to police in the Australian suburb of Castle Hill, it was a hot rod. While we don’t have specifics about the modifications made, law enforcement shared an AI-generated image on Facebook, which might give us a glimpse of its appearance.

According to local police, the driver was recorded going 83 km/h (52 mph) in a 60 km/h (37 mph) zone on Old Northern Road heading north. However, receiving a speeding ticket is the least of the driver’s worries.

During a roadside drug test, the 24-year-old tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine. He was then required to provide a saliva sample, which confirmed not only the presence of cocaine and THC but also methylamphetamine. That wasn't all.

Authorities issued a defect notice for the Model T. In Australia, such notices are given when police believe a vehicle is defective. In this case, they spotted multiple issues, including malfunctioning brake lights and turn signals. The Ford was also considered unroadworthy and modified beyond its original specifications.

The Hills Police Area Command confirmed that the driver is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court on August 14.
