BMW Has Increased Prices On Its Super Sedan And Wagon Without Introducing Anything New | Carscoops
Starting July 1, BMW will implement price increases across the company, averaging approximately 1.9 percent across all models.
Recently, BMW has raised the prices for both M5 series body styles by $2,400. The 2026 M5 Sedan will begin at $121,900, while the Touring model starts at $123,900.
Large vehicles often come with hefty price tags, and the BMW M5 is no exception. For the 2026 model year, this high-performance vehicle, offered as a sedan and wagon, not only retains its significant stature but also comes with a higher price.
Entering its second year in the U.S. market, the M5 Touring will be priced at $123,900 before destination charges, reflecting a 2 percent increase compared to its predecessor. This increase of $2,400 comes without additional features or enhancements to warrant the price hike.
Significantly, it’s not just the M5 Touring experiencing increased costs. Recent sales data also indicates a similar rise for the M5 Sedan, which will now start at $121,900 before destination fees, reflecting the same $2,400 increase with no changes in standard equipment.
It remains uncertain whether the price rise will affect demand, although it is likely that consumers in this segment will remain unbothered. BMW reports that the M5 Touring is now outselling the Sedan in the U.S., an unexpected trend given that American buyers typically avoid wagon models.
On a global scale, BMW mentions they are experiencing "very, very high demand for the new M5," indicating that the price increase has not deterred potential buyers. Even after the hike, the M5 Touring is still priced lower than its main competitor, the Audi RS6 Avant, which starts at $126,600 in the U.S., despite largely remaining the same since 2020.
Additionally, as reported by Cars Direct, nearly all BMW models will see a 1.9% price increase starting July 1. While BMW has not explicitly linked the price hikes to President Trump’s tariffs, they are undoubtedly a contributing factor.
The 2026 BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition will encounter the largest price increase of $2,500. The only models excluded from the price hikes in BMW’s 2026 line-up are the i5, i7, iX, 2-Series Gran Coupe, M2, and Alpina XB7.
