Some fans of the Fast and Furious series are about to receive what they've longed for, while others may react with disapproval. The beloved character is making a return.
During the Fuel Fast event in Los Angeles on Saturday, Vin Diesel took the stage and made three key announcements regarding the concluding Fast and Furious film. The last announcement was the comeback of Paul Walker's character, Brian O’Conner.
“The third announcement was about bringing together Dom and Brian O’Conner. That's what you will see in the finale,” Diesel informed the enthusiastic audience.
Walker portrayed Brian O’Conner in the initial six films of the Fast and Furious series. The seventh movie was in the process of filming when Walker tragically passed away in a car accident on November 30, 2013. The film, Furious 7, was revised to provide a fitting farewell to Walker's character. Cody Walker, Paul’s brother, assisted in embodying O’Conner using CGI.
Diesel revealed that he met with Universal Studios on Friday, where he was asked if they could schedule the finale of Fast and Furious for April 20, 2027. Diesel stated he agreed under three conditions: returning the franchise to Los Angeles, revisiting the street racing car culture, and the final condition was reuniting his character, Dominic Toretto, with Walker’s character, O’Conner.
Diesel did not go into detail about how these elements would be addressed or integrated, before concluding with “I love you” and exiting the stage. It remains uncertain if Hector will make a return, whether there will be two large bottles of NOS, or if spoon engines will make an appearance.
Cody Walker and Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the series, stood next to Diesel on stage, both smiling during the announcement.
The final chapter of the franchise, which will mark the 11th film, is thought to be titled Fast X Part Two.
