I had to verify, but the Cadillac Celestiq show car was unveiled in July 2022. This means we’ve been hearing about GM’s luxury brand’s new “Standard of the World” for about three years now. A lot has been said about it, including its wheelbase that exceeds 10 feet, its roof being the largest piece of automotive glass globally, and a starting price of approximately $340,000. However, I’m now sharing that the first Celestiq road car has been handed over to a customer.
VIN 001 was delivered to its very affluent new owner earlier this week, on June 23. The specifications are one-of-a-kind—naturally, all Celestiqs are unique, as no two will be identical. This particular car is finished in Dolce Metallic with a Cinnamon and Camelia interior. Personally, I appreciate that it’s not grey, black, or white, and I’m particularly pleased that it features brown.
Cadillac didn’t reveal much more about the vehicle, nor did it mention the identity of the owner. That’s fine, as I’m sure TMZ will uncover that information when it makes its first appearance in public. What we do know is that this Celestiq generates 655 horsepower and 646 lb-ft of torque, similar to the rest. It also boasts approximately 300 miles of range.
While I can’t state this definitively, I believe the car’s new owner will prioritize the backseat amenities over acceleration. Rest assured, Cadillac has devoted significant attention to that area, offering each passenger their own climate control zone, along with heated, cooled, and massaging seats. Additionally, the headrests even provide cool air to the passengers’ necks to prevent overheating. In total, Cadillac claims there are “33 unique microclimate devices” for comfort, which seems like a substantial number.
Almost everything about the Celestiq is exceptional. Its price tag rivals that of a Rolls-Royce Ghost, and it stretches to 18.1 feet, the length of a standard shipping container. It represents a significant leap for Cadillac, and now that it’s on the road, it’s time to see how it competes with the world’s finest luxury vehicles. No matter your feelings of patriotism, it’s tough not to support the U.S.A. in this endeavor.
