Amidst the ongoing conflict, Israeli authorities are reportedly expressing concern regarding electric vehicles parked at ports and other critical infrastructure.

Israeli officials are allegedly urging businesses to prepare for the relocation of electric vehicles from port facilities. There is apprehension that an Iranian missile could trigger a significant fire involving these vehicles.

Officials are advocating for the transfer of these cars to open areas, distancing them from vital infrastructure.

The hostilities between Israel and Iran ignited over a week ago following a surprise strike by Israel on Iran's nuclear program, as well as military officials and scientists. Iran has reportedly retaliated with over 400 missile launches and numerous drone attacks.

This past weekend, the United States became involved, prompting Iran to respond by targeting the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Although this represents a considerable escalation, it has been framed as a measured reaction since Iran allegedly issued prior warnings to the United States.

Looking ahead, uncertainty looms, and Israel is preparing for a prolonged conflict that could see more Iranian missiles impacting their territory. To counter this potential threat, the Israeli Administration of Shipping and Ports has reportedly instructed car importers to prepare to evacuate all electric vehicles from the country's seaports.

The Maritime Executive has reported that officials are seeking to remove electric vehicles from key ports, including Haifa and Ashdod. The intention is to transfer these vehicles to vacant parking lots that are removed from critical infrastructure.

The Port of Haifa handles nearly 20 million tons of cargo annually, making it the busiest port in Israel, and consequently, a potential target. Authorities are concerned about the possibility of an Iranian missile striking the port and igniting electric vehicles. EV fires are notoriously challenging to extinguish, which could lead to serious complications if a large number of vehicles were to catch fire following an attack.

While this scenario represents a worst-case possibility, it evidently occupies the thoughts of Israeli officials. However, predicting the outcome at this juncture remains difficult.
