This BMW Reached a $1M Bid With One Week Remaining. What Will the Final Price Be? | Carscoops
The legendary BMW 507 was popular among celebrities and royals during its time.
Only 250 units of the 1959 BMW 507 were produced, making it exceedingly rare.
This roadster has been repainted in Coral Red, enhancing its remarkable beauty.
The original four-speed manual transmission is paired with a 3.2-liter V8 engine in the 507.
Few BMW models can demand seven-figure prices, but this 1959 BMW 507 Series II stands out among them. With a production run limited to around 250 units globally, finding one in such immaculate condition is rare. It's no surprise that bids have already surpassed the $1 million threshold.
This particular 507, chassis #70185, originally left the factory in Feather White. However, in 2012, it underwent a complete restoration and was repainted in Coral Red. The removable hardtop was also finished in an Ivory color, and the wheels now match the body color perfectly.
Inside, the cabin appears nearly brand new. The two seats and sections of the Coral Red dashboard are adorned with tan leather. The 507 features an ivory steering wheel and shift knob, a Becker Mexico radio, and square-weave carpeting. It avoids the complexities of modern car interiors, allowing the next owner to fully enjoy the driving experience without distractions from intrusive safety systems or annoying infotainment features.
Under the hood, the 507 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.2-liter V8, featuring an aluminum block, aluminum cylinder heads, and dual Zenith carburetors. Power is transmitted through a four-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels.
BMW had intended to sell thousands of 507s in the US, but due to its high cost, production ceased after three years. When launched, the 507 started at approximately $9,000, which was later raised to $10,500. In today’s currency, that amounts to around $123,836, making it a highly sought-after and valuable investment for those who purchased the 507 new.
Currently, this exquisite BMW 507 is available for sale on Bring a Trailer, with bids reaching $1 million at the time of this report. If you're interested in adding this treasure to your garage, be prepared to compete. You can view the listing here.
