We'll have to wait to see if Xpeng provides chrome or matte purple wraps for the production P7.

The new P7 sedan features scissor doors, carbon-look trim, and offers up to 586 horsepower.

Prototypes with chrome and purple wraps have been seen testing on public roads in China.

The full reveal is planned for the Guangzhou Auto Show, with a launch anticipated in the third quarter of 2025.

China's rapidly growing EV market is full of excitement, and with new models being released at a fast pace, it can be challenging to keep track. One of the latest entrants that is expected to create a stir is the updated Xpeng P7, which seems ready to compete with the very popular Xiaomi SU7. This refreshed P7 was recently unveiled in official images from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it has also been photographed on the roads in eye-catching wraps.

Xpeng is anticipated to officially launch the P7 in the third quarter of this year, allowing ample time to address any issues with the new vehicle. The design overhaul of the updated P7 is so extensive that it hardly resembles its predecessor. Whether this change is beneficial will ultimately be determined by market response.

It is evident that Xpeng aims to make a bold impression with the new vehicle. One prototype seen on the streets by Weibo users features a mirror chrome wrap that covers not just the body but also the rear window and wheels. Another prototype caught on camera has a matte purple wrap and sports aerodynamic wheel covers.

While it's unlikely that Xpeng will offer the P7 with such exterior designs for sale, it wouldn't be surprising given the brand's history. The previous P7 'Wing Edition' is available in a striking shade of green, reminiscent of the vibrant color choices found in luxury brands like Lamborghini.

Vibrant colors are not the only exotic influences on the new P7. The vehicle will be equipped with Lamborghini-style scissor doors, though it remains unclear if these will be available on all trims or just the flagship model. Recent images have also indicated that the wing mirrors and front air vents can be configured with a forged carbon fiber look. It hasn't been confirmed whether this is genuine carbon fiber or merely an aesthetic wrap, but it certainly enhances the visual appeal of the EV.

The updated P7 is not just about aesthetics; it also offers performance improvements. The base models will feature a rear-mounted motor producing 363 hp, while the dual-motor version will add an additional 223 hp at the front. This results in a total output of 586 hp for the all-wheel-drive variant, which should lead to impressive acceleration.

Customers won't have to wait long to see it in person, as the P7 is expected to debut officially at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 20.
