The next generations of the X5, X6, and X7 will feature hybrid, electric, and performance-oriented versions.

BMW is set to introduce new iterations of its X5, X6, and X7, featuring electric options.

The updated X5 is anticipated to be launched first, with production likely starting next summer.

The iX7 M70 may offer over 800 hp, while an Alpina version could produce around 900 hp.

BMW’s X-series is still evolving. Although the current lineup seems fairly new, new generations of the X5, X6, and X7 are on the horizon, presenting a wider variety of powertrains, advanced technology, and some exciting innovations aimed at the electrified future.

Spy photographers have captured the redesigned X5 several times, and fresh details are beginning to surface about the crossover. It is set to enter production in August 2026 and will be available with a range of powertrains.

The fifth-generation model (G65) is expected to utilize the established CLAR platform while incorporating several characteristics from Neue Klasse vehicles. This approach is sensible, given that a fully electric iX5 will be included in the lineup, which will also feature gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen powertrains.

Reports indicate that the iX5 will feature a cutting-edge powertrain with a 20% increase in energy density, alongside a 30% enhancement in range and charging speed compared to the current BMW technology. Additionally, the crossover is projected to have a 40% reduction in energy loss, signaling a significant rise in efficiency.

The second-generation X7 (G67) is expected to follow in 2027 and is likely to resemble its smaller counterpart closely. However, it may take on a sportier character, as reports suggest an iX7 M70 with more than 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS). It could also be complemented by an Alpina version that offers around 900 hp (671 kW / 913 PS).

Despite modest sales, a new X6 (G66) is also in the works, and an electric iX6 is rumored to launch in 2028. Details about this crossover coupe remain limited, but it is expected to mirror the X5’s trajectory.

All three models are planned to be manufactured in America, bolstered by a $1 billion investment in Spartanburg, South Carolina, along with a $700 million investment in a nearby battery plant.
