Upcoming AMG models will sport sharper designs that are more distinct from their Mercedes-Benz counterparts.

AMG announces a significant launch of both combustion and electric vehicles over the next three years.

Electric AMG sedans and SUVs will utilize a new platform and will be optimized for track performance.

Performance car enthusiasts have much to get excited about, as Mercedes-AMG is ensuring an impressive lineup. The brand is currently undergoing its largest model launch ever, extending its offerings to include both combustion and electric powertrains. AMG has promised that these new models will not only enhance performance but will also feature bolder, more expressive designs.

AMG, which was once primarily known for its powerful V8 engines, has evolved significantly over the years. Although those mighty engines were foundational to the brand’s identity, the current AMG range is now much more diverse. It includes four-cylinder hot hatches like the A35 and A45, various hybrids, and a contentious change in the C63 which has replaced the revered V8 with a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid.

However, AMG isn’t stopping there. The company is also developing two brand new electric vehicles: a sedan comparable to the Porsche Taycan and a full-size SUV similar to the Lotus Eletre. Both vehicles will share the same AMG.EA architecture. According to AMG's CEO, Michael Schiebe, these models will be designed for track capability, emphasizing constant acceleration and braking.

      Design That Stands Apart

Schiebe mentioned that the objective is to enhance AMG’s unique visual style. While previous models occasionally blurred the distinction between AMG and standard Mercedes-Benz vehicles, future offerings will be more clearly defined.

“Customers appreciate the distinctive AMG aesthetic and the separation it provides,” Schiebe told Motor Trend. “Our future vehicles will be more expressive in this aspect. Looking ahead, you can expect cars that are visually more distinct—AMG will emphasize design more significantly. Our design language will become more expressive.”

      A Full Pipeline of Performance

Schiebe was candid about the volume of new models on the horizon. “In the next two to three years, expect the largest portfolio rollout of AMG vehicles in decades,” he stated. “This is why my team is under significant pressure, as we have numerous vehicles in the works. In the upcoming years, we will launch them consecutively, addressing both the electric and combustion segments.”

Additionally, Schiebe provided insights into the future of the four-cylinder C63. Acknowledging the mixed reception it has received, he noted that there are loyal V8 enthusiasts who find it challenging to embrace the four-cylinder hybrid technology.

However, there may be a shift on the way. Schiebe suggested that AMG intends to “satisfy our customers’ desires in the next two to three years,” likely alluding to the anticipated inline-six version being developed for the C63. If realized, this could strike an appealing balance between traditional performance and the brand’s move toward electrification.
