Could This Wrecked Porsche 911 Be Connected to a Well-Known YouTuber? | Carscoops
Perhaps another YouTuber who specializes in rescuing cars like this one will step in to revive it.
This damaged Porsche 911 Turbo S is said to have a connection to MKBHD.
Importantly, it’s part of a salvage auction following significant damage to the vehicle.
The specifics of the incident are unknown, but there’s a possibility of a feel-good conclusion for this car on YouTube.
This severely wrecked Porsche 911 Turbo S was previously a flawless supercar. Now, it resides in a salvage auction yard, awaiting a buyer to decide its future. While vehicles like this frequently appear at auction, this particular one is notable. It might have belonged to one of the biggest names on YouTube — though that detail is only relevant to those who find it significant.
The YouTuber in question is MKBHD, or Marques Brownlee, a tech figure who also has an interest in cars. He is known for his enthusiasm for high-performance vehicles and acquired what seems to be this exact Porsche just over a year ago. The cause of the accident or front-end damage remains unclear, but the windshield is broken, and the driver’s side hood, bumper, and fender are heavily damaged.
Interestingly, Brownlee hasn’t publicly discussed any accident related to his vehicle. It remains theoretically possible that this is not his car, or perhaps he sold it and someone else crashed it. Given Mr. Brownlee's popularity, it’s conceivable that a dedicated fan mirrored his car, including the decals. Nevertheless, there is compelling evidence suggesting that this car could indeed belong to Brownlee.
Let’s explore the evidence supporting this notion. In a YouTube video posted on January 11, 2024, he showcased the Porsche 911 to his followers and detailed the choices he made for it. Specifically mentioning the stripe decal on the hood, he stated, “This two stripe up here, this is what I think really separates my black Turbo S from everyone else’s. This was a little custom thing I worked on with APC.”
Sure enough, that same stripe appears on the hood of the car up for auction. Of course, that’s not the only matching feature; it’s merely the most noticeable connection between the two vehicles. They both share the same paint color and interior fabric. Commentators on Reddit have also pointed out that they seem to have the same ending in their VIN.
What will happen to this highly sought-after car? Only time will reveal the answer, but since the auction’s “start code” is “Starts,” there’s a reasonable chance that someone could restore it and return it to the road. Any number of YouTubers could potentially accomplish this feat. Carscoops attempted to reach out to Mr. Brownlee for a comment on this situation but did not receive a response by the time of this writing. We will provide updates if we hear back.
