A designer has combined the styles of the Ferrari F40 and F50 with a Pontiac Firebird to produce a V12 powerhouse with a carbon fiber body.

The creation is built around a carbon monocoque and a tubular chassis, sporting a rear diffuser reminiscent of the Gordon Murray T.50s.

What if you took a fourth-generation Pontiac Firebird and merged it with elements of the Ferrari F40 and F50? Although it’s doubtful that anyone will actually produce such an unusual fusion, these renderings give a fantastic glimpse of what this exciting mid-engine vehicle could resemble.

It would represent the pinnacle of American muscle intertwined with Italian allure, and perhaps a wealthy individual or adventurous YouTuber will turn this vision into reality.

This unique mid-engine Firebird-inspired design was meticulously rendered by Jason Battersby, known for his work on the contemporary Corvette design a couple of years ago. Battersby, who serves as the exterior design manager at Jaguar, frequently showcases his design experiments on Instagram, and this particular project stands out as one of his most daring and imaginative yet.

      A Recognizable Form, Reimagined

Though the inspiration came from a Pontiac, the final product bears little resemblance to its predecessor. Key design characteristics of the Firebird have been blended with influences from the F40 and F50. The hood has been entirely reimagined, featuring two large air intakes, substantial cooling vents, and sleek LED headlights, all complemented by a sizable carbon fiber splitter.

The Ferrari influence extends to the roof, where two substantial NACA ducts, inspired by the F40, have been integrated into the carbon fiber structure. Beneath the exterior, the car reveals a carbon monocoque and tubular chassis that resembles a work of art in itself.

Battersby envisions this vehicle powered by a custom-built V12, developed collaboratively by Pontiac and Ferrari, located directly behind the passenger compartment with four exhaust tips protruding from the rear grille. Additionally, a rear diffuser akin to that of the track-exclusive Gordon Murray T.50s Niki Lauda has been incorporated.

Transforming a Pontiac Firebird into something this remarkable wouldn't be a simple weekend task. However, the concept carries enough allure and a touch of madness that it isn’t far-fetched to think someone might actually attempt it. If that happens, we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it.
