Acura has begun notifying owners that they will soon lose access to AcuraLink.

As of July 21, 2025, AcuraLink will be deactivated for several models, including the premiere NSX, affecting vehicles produced between 2014 and 2022. The reason for discontinuing support for AcuraLink in these models has not been disclosed.

Update: Acura has officially confirmed the discontinuation of AcuraLink for specific vehicles. In a statement to Carscoops, they stated:

"Effective July 21, 2025, AcuraLink services for select Acura models will be terminated. This includes the vehicles' ability to connect with the AcuraLink mobile app. Although only a limited number of customers currently subscribed are impacted, we regret the inconvenience and will provide a pro-rated refund for any unused subscription time."

      The original report continues.

As vehicles become more dependent on cloud-connected services, the longevity of these services is as important as the hardware they're associated with. For the past ten years, AcuraLink has offered Acura's suite of connected car features, which includes remote access, diagnostics, and other digital amenities. However, this is set to change for many owners.

According to an email sent to some users, Acura plans to discontinue AcuraLink for a number of older models. While "older" may sound significant, some of these vehicles are still relatively new.

A screenshot of the email shared on Reddit indicates that starting July 21, 2025, AcuraLink will be disabled on various models, including the 2014-2020 RLX, 2015-2020 TLX, and 2016-2022 ILX. The 2014-2020 MDX and 2016-2018 RDX will also lose access. Even those who invested in a 2017-2022 NSX, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, will have their AcuraLink services discontinued.

      What Features Will Be Lost?

The email does not specify the reason for the discontinuation of AcuraLink, but this change is likely to disappoint many owners. The loss of AcuraLink will mean losing a variety of services that extend beyond basic infotainment, including scheduled service reminders, roadside assistance, recall notifications, emergency calling, remote locking and unlocking, security alerts, and location tracking via Find My Car.

Customers who subscribed to AcuraLink Premium will also lose the concierge service that assisted with restaurant reservations, travel arrangements, and more. Once the system shuts down, the AcuraLink app will be modified and will no longer support these vehicles.

Carscoops has contacted Acura for further information and will provide updates as new details become available. Currently, here's what we know.

Owners with active subscriptions that last beyond the shutdown date will receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of their service. Acura has indicated that these refunds should be processed by August 4, 2025. Furthermore, starting June 18, 2025, owners of affected vehicles will be unable to enroll in or renew monthly or annual subscription packages for AcuraLink.

While this decision may make sense from a technical or financial perspective, it leaves many drivers with newer models facing fewer digital features than they previously had. As automakers increasingly depend on subscription services to enhance value and functionality, the expiration date of those services is becoming a significant concern, prompting owners to pay closer attention.
