If you’ve been eagerly waiting for a first glimpse of the 2026 BMW M2 CS, your wait is over. Although BMW is set to release official specifications of its new sporty compact coupe next week, it was showcased to the public at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025 in Lake Como on Friday.
The CS model is designed for drivers seeking more performance and boldness compared to the standard M car. For instance, the previous M2 CS offered an additional 40 horsepower over the regular 2020 M2, raising our expectations for this new model. The base 2025 M2 already boasts a robust 473 hp (up from the 453 hp available at its launch), so we can anticipate a similar increase that could push its output beyond 500 hp.
One thing is certain: aside from performance, the M2 CS will be significantly more suited for everyday driving than the M2 Racing model we encountered earlier this year. That version prioritized weight reduction and on-track durability, while the M2 CS (notice the lack of an "L" for "lightweight") is more geared towards on-road driving challenges.
In addition to its prominent ducktail spoiler, the M2 features sporty mesh wheels in what appears to be a light bronze finish. The fundamental induction setup at the front seems similar, though the lower bumper intakes on the outside look to be somewhat altered, likely enhancing airflow over key components.
Inside, we observe the expected "CS" embroidery on the center console and door panels, along with BMW’s iconic M colors highlighting the distinctly shaped front bucket seats. As for additional details, we’ll need to be patient until next Wednesday (May 28th) for more information. Stay tuned.
